It looks like a plain white tee - however, this T-shirt aims to save the planet.
RepAir is a genderless t-shirt that purifies the air thanks to a clever insert able to neutralize pollutants, bacteria and unpleasant odors. The patented fabric used is claimed to absorb the polluting emission of up to two cars.
It is the brainchild of Italian fashion company Kloters, who have created RepAir as part of its plan "to continue living the brand’s philosophy and creating a more sustainable fashion world".
The T-shirt incorporates a pocket in which a so-called 'Breath' insert is hidden which does the cleansing. Kloters explain: "The air flows through the pocket into the insert and pollutants and bad odors are captured and contained in the insert (but, rest assured, your t-shirt will not smell as organic molecules are disaggregated).
A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign launched on June 12 for the T-shirt, which has an early bird price of $33.
Kloters say: "Every year, more than two billion t-shirts are sold. What if one could clean the air? Kloters, an Italian fashion start-up, asked this question and started working to find an answer. The result is RepAir, a genderless cotton t-shirt, entirely produced in Italy, that cleans the air thanks to a ‘the Breath®’ insert, patented material produced by Anemotech srl and tested due to international standard, able to neutralize pollutants, bacteria and unpleasant odors. "
A statement explains: "RepAir is not just produced in a way that respects the environment, but it also acts virtuously and actively on it thanks to the insert of the fabric the Breath® that disrupts and captures the pollutant molecules in the air. Extensive laboratory tests carried out by Università Politecnica delle Marche, due to international standards, proved the capability of absorption of the patented material. Data validated by using the fabric in the interior design and as external advertising banners. RepAir uses for the first time the Breath® also in the fashion world proposing a different solution to the atmospherical pollution problem. According to projections, based on the measurements of the emissions produced by cars in the Milan’s center, every t-shirt is able to absorb the pollutants (Nox e COV) of two automobiles."
