Planet Beach moves to downtown Hastings

Smith has been part of the Planet Beach team for seven years and she took over ownerships two years ago. After finding out the space in downtown Hastings would be available, she decided move would allow them to be in a location with more foot traffic and give them an opportunity to expand their services.

The new location is twice the size of the former location. In addition, Smith was able to have a hand in the design of the layout. A new member lounge will feature a sitting lounge in addition to the seating area in the lobby. There will be additional massage chairs coming and two more HOTWORX units.

According to Smith, many people are unaware of the services Planet Beach has to offer aside from tanning. Services range from spray tans, facials and teeth whitening to automated massages, red light therapy, hydration and HOTWORX.

HOTWORX is a virtually instructed exercise program designed for users to experience infrared absorption while completing a 30-minute workout. A variety of workout videos are available for users.

In addition to the services offered, Smith said the Hastings Planet Beach also has a claim to fame.

"I am the only Planet Beach in the entire state of Minnesota, which means I also have the only HOTWORX you will find in the state of Minnesota," Smith said.

Smith said the downtown location is a great spot for Planet Beach and she is excited to be there. She loves being downtown in general and looks forward to being part of the events and community activities. She has found that people in the downtown area are very positive and she is happy to be part of that group.
