THE WORLD is going to end today, according to alarming crackpot theories.

The barmy predictions suggest April 23 2018 is the date when the Biblical Rapture will take place and a mysterious planet known as "Nibiru" will spark chaos, World War Three and the rise of the Antichrist.

Planet X, or Nibiru, will trigger the apocalypse today, claim crackpot doomsday theories

It's a lot to take in, so we've gathered all the info on the delirious speculations.

What is Nibiru and will it destroy us all?

David Meade, a Christian numerologist, first predicted that Planet X or Nibiru was hurtling towards the Earth and would wipe out humanity on September 23, 2017.

But that obviously didn't happen, so Meade has tweaked his deranged ramblings.

He told The Sun Online that people have misunderstood his prophecy and the doomsday will take place over a period of seven years starting in October.

Linguist Zecharia Sitchin's controversial 1976 book Twelfth Planet claims that Nibiru is inhabited by an alien race called the Anunnaki, who are referred to in the Bible as the Nephilim.

Conspiracy theorists have claimed that Elon Musk's SpaceX rocket will help "destroy Nibiru", although Nasa has denied the existence of the secretive planet.

Meade’s latest claims suggest that on April 23 2018 the sun, moon and Jupiter will align in the constellation Virgo, sparking the beginning of the biblical Rapture.

American Christian conspiracy theorist David Meade has incorrectly predicted the end of the world in the past.

Planet X

American Christian conspiracy theorist David Meade has incorrectly predicted the end of the world in the past.

Who is David Meade?

David Meade is an American Christian conspiracy theorist who has made predictions about Doomsday.

He wrote a book called Planet X – The 2017 Arrival - insisting Nibiru would crash into Earth in October - but then moved it forward by a few weeks.

His theory was given a boost this year when Nasa discovered a new planet in the solar system, which they named Planet Nine.

Meade, however, insists that this planet is actually Nibiru, or Planet X.

The American’s previous theories and predictions about the end of the world have all been wrong – as (you know) humans are still alive and kicking.

In his earlier theories, Meade suggested that the mysterious "Planet X" - or Nibiru – could be headed towards Earth to destroy it on September 23, 2017.

However, when the date passed without apocalyptic incident, Meade insisted that people misunderstood his Planet X prophecy.

He then claimed that October 15 would herald seven years of nuclear war and natural disasters, marking "the end of the world as we now know it".

Once again the day came and went without it coming to light.

So now we've arrived at his latest doomsday date, will it be third time lucky for Meade?

What is David Meade's theory based on?

Meade's prediction is being shared on conspiracy theory websites, with many people saying the warning signs are written in the Bible.

It largely relates to the Bible passage Isaiah, Chapter 13 9-10, which reads: "See, the Day of the Lord is coming – a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger – to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.

"The Stars of Heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising Sun will be darkened and the Moon will not give its light."

It's also based on passage 12:1–2: “And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars."

That woman is believed to be Virgo, and it is thought she could foretell the Biblical prophecy of the End of Days.

But before you descend into your basement armed with tins of soup, it's important to note that Nasa has repeatedly shot down Meade's theories, claiming that Nibiru is just an elaborate hoax.
