Planet Fitness celebrated the opening of its newest gym on Wednesday.
The opening in Bristol Plaza on Commerce Circle follows months of work and the the closure of several stores, including a Fine Wine and Good Spirits outlet, to accommodate the new gym.
The new location is part of National Fitness Partners, a franchise division of Planet Fitness.
“We look forward to becoming part of the Bristol community and providing an affordable, high-quality Judgement Free fitness center for everyone,” said Christine Smith, Chief Marketing Officer at National Fitness Partners, a Planet Fitness franchise division. “People of all fitness levels are welcome at Planet Fitness and we are excited to help those in our Bristol club reach their wellness goals.”
The facility boasts a variety of features aimed at catering to a diverse clientele, including cardio machines, strength equipment, a 30-Minute Express Circuit, numerous flat-screen televisions, and fully equipped locker rooms complete with day lockers and showers.
The new location operates from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. over the weekend.
Planet Fitness markets itself as a “Judgement Free Zone” and promotes a “hassle-free, non-intimidating environment.”
The fitness chain has several other locations in Bucks County, including in Falls and Middletown townships.
Founded in 1992 in New Hampshire, the company now operates 2,400 clubs globally.
The opening in Bristol Borough comes just a day after the company announced Colleen Keating as the new CEO starting in June. Keating will succeed Chris Rondeau, who stepped down last September.
In recent weeks, Planet Fitness locations nationwide have faced a series of bomb threats following an incident where a member was banned for taking photos of a transgender person in the locker room and sharing them on social media, according to First Coast News.
