5 Things to Know About Planet Pioneers - News 13 Orlando

ORLANDO, FL – Think about what you're doing right now. You're not floating (we hope). You might be munching on something grown from the ground. The temp is comfy. You're about to drive in a car without a droid above you. Living anywhere other than planet Earth, well, ain't easy. A new attraction in town shows you why.

  1. The Orlando Science Center (OSC) has a new exhibit. “Planet Pioneers is all about what it's going to take to not just explore, but to survive on another planet,” says OSC VP of Marketing Jeff Stanford. “[It's] just great for all ages in the sense of anybody's who's curious about what life's going to be like on a planet other than ours.”
  2. Planet Pioneers features 17 interactives (with an abundance of hand sanitizing stations). “The essentials for life are always going to be food, water, shelter,” Stanford adds. “So how do you go about that being on the context of another world?”
  3. On that note, the exhibit puts budding space explorers to the test as they attempt to source their own food and shelter, and solve problems in an unknown world. In recent years and the resurgence in space exploration, especially Mars, your little ones could see someone living on Mars in their lifetime.
  4. The out-of-this-world exhibit also focuses on teamwork, leadership building skills, and creative problem-solving. STEM is the jam.
  5. Planet Pioneers is at OSC through May 9. It's included with regular admission.
