Letter | A glimpse of how humans impact the planet - Santa Cruz Sentinel

First, thanks to Ms. Harker about closing West Cliff Drive. Let’s close at least one lane. Today West Cliff was car busy in both lanes with lots of pollution and noise. Second, thanks to Ms. Yorba, regarding leaf blowers—even more pollution and noise! So please Santa Cruz City Council, take note of both.

Lastly, thanks to Stephen Kessler’s commentary. In my heart and mind, I agree with him. Mankind’s footprint is overwhelming on this planet and we’re glimpsing just a little of how social distancing and staying home has cleared up the air and decreased noise levels, among other positives.

We need to rethink what our impact has been, including overpopulation.

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 150 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
