Retrograde, retroshade, retro-STFU—it feels like there’s always some sassy planet in the sky throwing a curveball into your plans (or having your ex slip into your DMs), amirite?? Well, no more! (For a little bit, at least.)

On January 10, all of our planets above will be moving happily forward and no longer tying you back. That’s right: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto will all be picking up the pace, which means that you, too, can see open roads ahead. What is most important to you that you wish to make progress upon?

But first, a quick refresher on retrogrades:

Retrograde planets tend to slow us down and bring back the past. 2020 is going to be a year filled with retrogrades: In May and June, we’ll face a passionate Venus Retrograde sounding a whole lot like an Adele breakup album, and a Mars Retrograde telling us to forcing us to actually chill in September into November.

When a planet retrogrades, we see it move backward from our perspective on Earth. While no planet is actually spinning out of orbit, the optical illusion does create effects in the area of our lives that it rules. When a planet is slowing down, our plans or relationships also slow down. If it is frozen in the sky, everything in our lives comes to a halt. When it slides backward, we review our plans or revisit the past. Finally, as the planet once again shimmies onward, our lives dance forward too. Crazy, right?

Retrogrades may seem to haunt us, but trust: they are a blessing in disguise. They allow us to fine-tune our goals and often bring a karmic lesson (or person) we must reconnect with to fully reach our highest potential. So when that ex is hitting you up, it might actually be the Universe saying there is still more you need to learn from one another.

**Okay, here’s what each planet going direct means for you:**

With Venus, planet of love and marriage, living its best life (i.e., moving forward) this is an excellent time to begin a relationship, get engaged, or tie the knot. New love found now can last a very long time and won’t have as many hiccups. Take the initiative to go after the person you’ve always wanted because your love could truly align.

Mars, which is our booster rocket in the sky, rules our drive, energy, and will to persevere. With it all fired up, it’s a hot time to kickstart a side hustle, launch a new project, or start a new career.

Mercury, the feisty planet that rules technology and communication, is in a good mood so you can sign all of those important contracts or buy the latest products without worrying they’ll fail later.

And last to note is that with Jupiter, planet of miracles and prosperity, also getting lit, anything that begins or moves forward now can see serious luck infused within it!

One last thing:

Astrology shows us windows in time when our efforts will receive the biggest bang for our buck. Make a list of all the things you wish to achieve in your coming year (professionally, personally, and spiritually) and start to take action now.

Use this time because your cosmic green-light will only last until February 16. Then we’ll be sucked back into a short period of retrograde. From March 9 to April 25 though, the stars will be moving forward in formation once again. After that, we won’t have an entirely free sky of retroshade until 2021.What are you waiting for, people?!!
