Our frightening destiny on planet Earth?

Hedgesville:

The planet is not only crowded, it is also baking and we may already be “baked in” as common usage tells us. NASA scientists are confirming this along with the recent publicized findings. We have, according to Stephen Hawking, only 100 habitable years left on our planet, and we are excitedly searching, like Trivago, for another planet, or space stations?

If we don’t take some kind of evolutionary leap, we can ruin another planet without blinking. It seems that we like to continue to ignore not only science, but our own lyin’ eyes. The experts tell us that if we keep it up as we are, we have only a very slim chance of making things work. This is different from the Bible, which said we would never again be destroyed by water and left out the heating up to boiling point. But the Bible was, after all, written before the Industrial Revolution, when we might have had more of a chance.

The question for me today is, what do we do with this “new and old” information. Even Al Gore was late, bless him for trying. Here we sit in our increasing cauldron, in more ways than summer, and ponder what and when will we be cooked and ready to serve? The trend is for extinction of our species, and we have only now, ’til then.

I am grateful to have been born into these years on this Earth, where there is still beauty and kindness. I try to extend myself in tiny ways to keep my place in the circle, and try not to say, what difference does it make? And then? Then I get back into looking into the larger scheme, the deeper scheme, the one which helps me see that we are all about energy in one way or another. Just little charged particles bouncing around, trying to resonate with similarly charged particles so we don’t feel alone, and so we don’t add to the demise of our species.

There is only so much recycling you can do, only so much water you can’t waste, so much non-polluting driving you can do. That is largely because there are too many others who believe that things and money and glitter at all costs do matter. Still, the effort to not take more than one is really entitled to, does matter. And that is when we realize that immateriality is where we are moving.

We come in “repairing” previous lives and we leave “preparing” our next incarnations. Kind of like schooling prepares us for jobs to do, and jobs prepare us for promotion. Simple cycles, evolutionary cycles. Nothing fancy, really. Heard or read once “for some, kindness is their religion” and I say, we can’t go wrong with that notion.

Welcome to the primordial ooze. We are all the same.
