For those looking to get in shape in a non-intimidating atmosphere, a popular fitness chain offering a trademarked “Judgement Free Zone” is coming to Bethlehem.
Planet Fitness, with more than 1,500 locations in all 50 states, is planning to open its fifth Lehigh Valley gym in the fall at 1742 Stefko Blvd., according to Becky Zirlen, Planet Fitness’ senior public relations manager.
The 18,000-square-foot club will occupy part of the former Strauss Discount Auto center, which closed in 2012 as part of a bankruptcy filing.
It will offer state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, free fitness training and a Black Card Spa, which will include HydroMassage beds, massage chairs and tanning beds and booths for PF Black Card members.
“We cater to first-time and casual gym goers who may have never belonged to a gym before,” Zirlen said. “We always strive for a non-intimidating, judgement free atmosphere where our members can feel comfortable working out at their own pace.”
Membership starts at $10 a month, or $21.99 a month for the PF Black Card. The Black Card also offers the ability to bring a guest for free and use of any other Planet Fitness gym nationwide.
Other area Planet Fitness gyms are on Hanover Avenue in Allentown, Broadway in South Whitehall Township, Nazareth Pike in Lower Nazareth Township and William Penn Highway in Palmer Township.
The upcoming Bethlehem gym will be within a mile of two other fitness chains: Retro Fitness on Stefko Boulevard in Bethlehem and Maxx Fitness on Easton Avenue in Bethlehem.
