We must admit our impact on planet

Some simple things to think about:

Los Angeles has a machine that takes truckloads of garbage and separates it into bundles of reusable metals, plastics, paper and organic material which gets buried.

There is a machine on the east coast that can take all organic material (including tires) and turn it into aircraft grade fuel and sterile dirt.

These two machines placed at all landfills could be the new mines for the planet and our society could continue.

I collect rocks and minerals and in doing so go to many old mines and quarries, they are old because we have used up a great majority of the materials on the planet

In the mid-1970s there was a Scandinavian country that encased the nuclear fuel in porcelain and ran a test by carefully letting the water out of their reactor. The reactor shut down and did not melt down, this was not very profitable so the practice was not continued. What is the cost of the Fukashima and Chernobal disasters? Was any money saved ?

It is my belief that we can have safe nuclear power if we take profit out of the equation.

It is evidenced that the oceans are rising due to rising temperatures on the planet. Having said that: If all rivers planet wide were to be dammed up before the water reaches the salt water and that water were to be pumped inland to where it could be used we could possibly control sea rise and in turn provide areas that are deficient in water the gift of life and produce. Pumps run by solar, wind and water currents could be used for this task. If we could take the profit thought out, we could do these things.

When I was born in 1948 this planet had roughly 1.5 billion people. When I was in college in the 70s I learned that population doubles every 35 years, at that time there were roughly 3.5 billion people on the planet. Now, 45 years later, there are 7 billion people on the planet. I had also learned that there can only be 14 billion people with a diet of 1800 calories per day per person.

Perhaps it is time to not have so many babies.

We, as a society, cannot reach consensus that we have any effect on our planet as of yet.

Perhaps it is time for us to take a serious look at our role.

Many think everything must be done one way or another. We have a very complex society where no one really knows or even comprehend how it works and the fact that it does work is remarkable. This is the greatest society that has ever existed on this planet. Even the most common of people have more than King Soloman ever had.

Let us think of what it takes for our planet to survive us.
