Though it's often overlooked by travelers to Brussels, Antwerp is similarly decked out with gorgeous architecture. Next year is especially important for the city; it will celebrate Baroque design as "Flemish Masters (will be) rubbing shoulders with modern talent" in concerts, shows, and workshops.

Lonely Planet, a popular travel guide book publisher, has released its list of the 10 best cities for world travelers to visit in 2018.
Among them is the hurricane-hit San Juan, Puerto Rico, which was selected prior to the storms. Following the disaster, Lonely Planet noted that editors believe "it will rebuild and remain the enchanting city it's always been."
In addition to San Juan, Lonely Planet's list includes oft-overlooked metropolitan destinations in Europe and cultural hubs in Asia, Australia and North America.
Lonely Planet's process of selecting the best tourist destinations begins with "hundreds of recommendations" of must-see places by experienced travelers, according to a press release. After gathering such suggestions, the company creates a shortlist and internally weighs factors related to "topicality, novelty and wow-factor" to decide the best of next year.
In addition to selecting the best cities to visit, Lonely Planet has also considered the best countries to go to in 2018, the best regions to travel to, and the "best value" destinations, which this year includes Tallinn, Estonia, and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. See all rankings here.
